APM Terminals (APMT) has officially introduced a dedicated rail shuttle connecting Helsingborg to the Port of Gothenburg.

This new inland link tightens connectivity and extends the port’s reach deeper into the logistics landscape of southern Sweden.
Owned by APMT and operated by Dania Connect, the new rail service moves containers between Helsingborg and Gothenburg in approximately five hours. This quick transit positions rail as a highly competitive alternative for regional cargo flows and reinforces intermodal integration across the Swedish supply chain.
This new connection directly builds on the Port of Gothenburg’s established rail network, which already links nearly 30 inland locations. The new Helsingborg shuttle is expected to contribute incremental growth while strengthening overall network resilience.
Mathias Weismann Poulsen, Chief Commercial Officer at APM Terminals Nordic, noted that the company is already seeing strong interest from both shipping lines and local cargo owners. Claes Sundmark, Vice President Sales & Marketing at the Port of Gothenburg, added that an integrated rail connection directly to the container terminal gives the Helsingborg business community a major boost in reaching global markets.
Beyond optimizing logistics, the rail shuttle aligns with broader decarbonization efforts at the port. This development follows a major January announcement that Hydrogen Solutions AS (HYDS) plans to establish a green hydrogen production and electrolyser facility directly at the Port of Gothenburg.
