CMA CGM has officially announced a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments moving from China to West Africa. According to the ocean carrier, implementing this surcharge is a necessary step to maintain reliable and efficient services throughout the peak shipping period.

The new PSS takes effect on March 27, 2026, and will remain in place until further notice. This measure applies to all cargo types moving under short term contracts across the specified trade lanes.
New PSS Rates by Destination Shippers booking freight from China need to budget for the following per TEU rate increases depending on their final destination:
- Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, and Equatorial Guinea: USD 590 per TEU
- Nigeria: USD 575 per TEU
