CMA CGM is introducing a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments moving from the East Mediterranean to the United States. The ocean carrier stated this pricing adjustment is designed to maintain reliable service levels during periods of high market demand.

The new PSS takes effect based on the loading date starting April 15, 2026. It applies to all standard cargo types, with the explicit exception of out of gauge (OOG) equipment.

Shippers will face the following rate increases:

  • 20 foot container: USD 550
  • 40 foot container: USD 1,100
  • 40 foot High Cube: USD 1,100
  • 45 foot container: USD 1,100

This surcharge impacts a broad origin range across the East Mediterranean (EMED) region. Affected loading countries include Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Egypt, Syria, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia, Albania, and Slovenia.

On the destination side, the PSS applies to cargo discharging at all US East Coast and US Gulf ports. The surcharge also extends to any inland points reached via these specific gateways.
