Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has launched specialized logistics services for the bulk transportation of loose cement using advanced tank containers.

This shift from conventional bagged road transport to modern rail-based logistics marks a major modernization effort for India’s heavy materials supply chain.
The new service is already operational for My Home Industries Limited. Loose cement is currently being loaded directly from the plant silos at the My Home Cement facility in Mellacheruvu, Andhra Pradesh. From there, the specially designed bulk tank containers are transported via rail directly into the CONCOR Inland Container Depot in Bengaluru.
Moving bulk cement via rail-based tank containers offers massive operational advantages over traditional bagged road transport. For manufacturers and distributors, this system delivers:
- Cost and Time Savings: Lower overall logistics costs and faster turnaround times.
- Reduced Wastage: Minimized handling losses and material wastage during transit.
- Improved Safety: Safer, dust-free transportation that maintains product quality and improves workplace conditions.
- Green Logistics: Significantly lower carbon emissions and reduced highway congestion, aligning with India’s push for sustainable freight movement.
