For the first time since the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, a Pakistan Navy warship has docked in Bangladesh. The frigate PNS Saif arrived at Chattogram port on November 8th for a four-day goodwill visit. This visit follows a similar goodwill mission by the US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald, which berthed at the same port in October.

The PNS Saif was ceremonially received by the Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Sadhinota, marking a notable gesture of enhanced friendship and cooperation between the two South Asian nations that were once adversaries. The timing of the visit coincided with the Pakistan Navy Chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf’s, four-day tour to Bangladesh. During his visit, Admiral Ashraf met with Bangladesh’s Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman and Navy Chief Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan.

This development was shared with the media through the Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of Pakistan’s Defence Ministry and the Bangladesh Navy.
