Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) has greenlit a ₹797.17 crore($87.65 million) project to build a dedicated green hydrogen and liquid cargo jetty at Paradip Port.

Developed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis by the Paradip Port Authority, the facility aims to position India’s East Coast as a major hub for clean energy exports.
Designed to integrate Odisha’s emerging green hydrogen production clusters with global markets, the new terminal will have a handling capacity of 4.0 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
Key infrastructure details include:
- Draft Depth: A dredged depth of 14.3 meters in front of the berth to safely accommodate liquid cargo vessels.
- Dimensions: A center-to-center distance of 279 meters between the extreme end dolphins.
- Facilities: A dedicated jetty, advanced storage systems, pipelines, and specialized handling equipment for green energy derivatives.
The infrastructure is also designed to handle conventional liquid cargoes, successfully diversifying Paradip Port’s overall cargo profile.
The Paradip Port Authority will provide capital support equivalent to 20% of the project’s cost (₹159.43 crore) during the construction phase. Once initiated, the project is scheduled to be completed within a rapid 24-month window.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasised that the terminal aligns directly with the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
