Maersk has officially inaugurated World Gateway II, a fully automated global and regional distribution center in Singapore.

Spanning 1.1 million square feet, World Gateway II is designed to support companies leveraging Singapore as a central distribution hub.

The facility is strategically located near critical transport infrastructure, including Tuas Port and Changi Airport, ensuring efficient international cargo flow.

Backed by the Singapore government, the new center handles both B2B and B2C operations. It is equipped to process a wide range of products across the retail, fast moving consumer goods, lifestyle, wellness, and technology sectors.

To drive efficiency and scalability, World Gateway II is outfitted with heavy warehouse automation. The facility’s technology stack includes:

  • Multi Shuttle Systems
  • Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)
  • Autonomous Case handling Robots
  • Autonomous Mobile Robots

By minimising manual handling, these integrated systems enable faster order fulfillment, reduce lead times, and improve overall operational accuracy for shippers.

The opening of World Gateway II aligns with Maersk’s broader strategy to strengthen its integrated logistics network and enhance supply chain performance.

Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, noted that the launch reflects the immense opportunities in the Asian market. “Underpinned by continued export strength and increasing consumption, Asia’s growth trajectory remains extraordinary,” Clerc stated.

“This new facility is yet another milestone of our fast growing integrated logistics business in the region, and how we support customers with more resilience and flexibility.”
