MSC has released its updated freight rates for container shipments moving from India and Pakistan to Europe. The revised pricing takes effect from March 1, 2026, through March 31, 2026, impacting major origin ports including Nhava Sheva, Ennore, Kolkata, and Port Qasim.

The carrier has outlined specific base rates for “Freight All Kinds” (FAK) cargo destined for Antwerp and Valencia. These base rates include ocean freight, contingency adjustments, and piracy risk surcharges:
- To Antwerp:
- Nhava Sheva & Port Qasim: USD 1,850 (all container types)
- Ennore: USD 2,050
- Kolkata: USD 2,150
- To Valencia:
- Nhava Sheva & Port Qasim: USD 1,950
- (Rates for other origin ports to Valencia scale slightly higher).
Note: These rates apply only to standard FAK shipments and exclude high-value or dangerous goods.
Shippers must factor in several mandatory surcharges that apply on top of the base ocean freight to every shipment:
- Bunker Recovery Charge: USD 170 per TEU for dry containers
- Emissions Trading System (ETS): USD 88 per TEU
- Fuel EU: USD 17 per TEU
- Carrier Security Fees: USD 13 for India and USD 11 for Pakistan
Terminal handling costs will be applied locally at both origin and destination ports:
- Origin Terminal Handling Charges (OTHC): Billed in local currency for India (e.g., INR 10,070 for a 20-foot container from Nhava Sheva) and in USD for Pakistan (e.g., USD 137 for a 20-foot container from Port Qasim).
- Destination Terminal Handling Charges (DTHC): Billed in Euros at the discharge port. Antwerp requires EUR 230 (plus security and release charges), while Valencia charges EUR 248.
