DP World has announced the launch of Insetify, a new carbon inset trial specifically designed for ocean freight forwarding customers in Belgium, Portugal, and Sweden.

Scheduled to begin on April 1, 2026, the program gives shippers a direct way to reduce their Scope 3 emissions across critical European trade lanes.
Unlike traditional carbon offsets which often fund external environmental projects carbon insets reduce emissions directly within the supply chain by utilizing lower carbon fuels and optimised transport operations.
Under the new Insetify program, DP World will automatically apply these carbon inset credits to qualifying ocean freight shipments. To qualify, customers must ship a minimum of 25 TEUs per quarter. For every TEU moved, the shipper will receive credits equal to 100 kg of CO₂e. For example, a shipper moving 50 TEUs in a single quarter will automatically bank credits equivalent to 5 tonnes of CO₂e.
This European rollout expands on DP World’s existing carbon inset program currently operating at the Port of Southampton and the London Gateway Port in the UK. Since that initiative launched in 2025, DP World has processed over 250,000 TEUs and issued more than 9,000 tonnes of carbon inset credits to its shippers.
Alongside the carbon credits, the trial will include dedicated sustainability training to help customers better track and manage their supply chain emissions.
The April launch also coincides with DP World’s broader freight forwarding expansion into Stockholm and Gothenburg. During its first operational year in Sweden, the company is aiming to shift up to 25% of its shipments from road freight to rail or sea to further cut transport emissions. Ultimately, these initiatives are stepping stones toward DP World’s target of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
