GenLogs, a startup tackling the massive issue of cargo theft and fraud, has secured $60 million in Series B funding. The round was led by Battery Ventures, bringing the company’s total funding to $81 million.

GenLogs isn’t just another tracking app. Founded in 2023 by Ryan Joyce, a former CIA officer, the company is applying intelligence community tactics to freight.

Their system uses a nationwide network of roadside and port-based sensors to capture actual truck movements. By comparing this physical data against a carrier’s digital footprint, GenLogs can confirm if a truck is actually where the paperwork says it is.

“GenLogs is applying many aspects of the U.S. intelligence community’s playbook to drive total visibility in the trucking industry,” Joyce said.

The company plans to use the new capital to expand this data platform. They also noted that their privacy system filters out non-commercial vehicles and obscures windows to prevent personal identification. Beyond commercial freight, GenLogs has already assisted federal agencies in investigations involving narcotics smuggling and human trafficking.
