Imabari Shipbuilding Co, Ltd. has officially delivered the UM MINAMI, a new 52,000 deadweight ton (DWT) product and chemical tanker constructed at the Minaminippon Shipbuilding yard.

The UM MINAMI is specifically engineered to load IMO Type II and III chemical products. Its design maximizes operational flexibility for liquid bulk logistics:
- Simultaneous Loading: Each cargo tank is equipped with an independent submerged pump, allowing the vessel to handle up to six different types of chemicals at once.
- Cleaning Efficiency: The internal tank structure is optimized to reduce residual oil, significantly speeding up the cleaning process between different cargo loads.
The Panamanian-flagged vessel is built to meet strict international maritime regulations.
- Emissions: It exceeds Phase 2 CO2 requirements, anticipates upcoming Phase 3 standards, and fully complies with NOx Tier III regulations.
- Water Management: The ship is equipped with a modern ballast water treatment system to meet the Ballast Water Management Convention.
- Propulsion: By combining energy-saving additives, high-performance propellers, and low-friction hull paint, the vessel achieves high operational efficiency and a service speed of roughly 14.5 knots.
