Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) and the Port of Marseille Fos have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement aims to deepen cooperation on trade facilitation, port innovation, and energy transition along the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

This partnership is the proposed creation of the IMEC Ports Club. This initiative will institutionalize dialogue and coordinate infrastructure investments among key ports along the 6,000-km multimodal connectivity route.

Key Focus Areas of the Partnership :

  • Trade Promotion: Launching joint campaigns, participating in B2B engagements, and positioning the IMEC route as a secure, competitive alternative for global supply chains.
  • Green Maritime Corridor: Developing a low-carbon shipping route between Mundra and Marseille Fos, supported by alternative fuels, shore power supply, and low-carbon bunkering.
  • Technical Exchange: Sharing expertise and building capacity in smart-port platforms, data interoperability, and cybersecurity.

“With this MoU with the Port of Marseille Fos in France, we have now successfully connected the final leg to Europe,” noted Ashwani Gupta, CEO of APSEZ, emphasizing the anticipated surge in trade following the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

Hervé Martel, CEO of the Port of Marseille Fos, added that the partnership aims to “mobilize and federate the ports involved, and to act as strong advocates of a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable connection between our regions.”
