In late 2022, the Indian government placed a long-standing ban on Chinese consumer apps, citing national security. However, recent developments brought a new way in this respect.

The Indian government has partnered with Alibaba.com for an export-focused program to open the overseas market to startups and small businesses. MSMEs and startups already account for half of India’s exports and contribute to 31% of GDP.

Startup India initiative announced on social media platform X that the collaboration with Alibaba.com will identify, onboard, and scale Indian exporters on the group’s global B2B platform

The program offers commissions and technical support to startups, especially in export tech & B2B e-commerce, cross-border fintech & payments, logistics SaaS & freight aggregation, and digital marketing & automation, to help them become channel partners.

These channel partners will help small manufacturers and traders reach overseas markets.
