Hartman Seatrade is upgrading its project cargo capabilities by outfitting its newest vessels with two LS 250 heavy lift ship cranes supplied by Liebherr.

Each Liebherr LS 250 crane can independently lift up to 250 tonnes with a maximum outreach of 36 meters. When synchronized for tandem operations, the dual-crane setup can manage combined lifts of up to 500 tonnes.
- The cranes feature an optimised design with a low deadweight of just 150 tonnes, maximizing the vessel’s overall payload capacity.
- Equipped with modular Litronic control systems, the cranes provide operators with real-time performance data, automatic load adjustments, and precise handling even in harsh maritime conditions.
The new fast, purpose-built heavy lift vessels are currently under construction. The initial building phase is taking place in Szczecin, Poland. From there, the ships will route through Rostock, Germany, for the installation of the crane slewing columns. Final outfitting will be completed in the Netherlands.
To align with the vessel construction schedule, delivery of the main crane components will be executed in stages from 2027 through early 2028.
Teele Hartman, Managing Director of Hartman Seatrade, pointed to Liebherr’s proven reliability, noting that the two companies have maintained a partnership since 2006. Niek Brabers added that the LS 250’s efficient design, coupled with Liebherr’s global service support, makes it the right fit for the rigorous demands of the heavy-lift sector.
