Intermodal logistics in Eastern Hungary are expanding. East West Intermodal Logistics Plc (EWG) and Maersk have officially signed an agreement to launch container depot and dry port services at the EWG terminal in Fenyeslitke.

Under this new partnership, Maersk is establishing a dedicated dry port operation directly at the Fényeslitke facility. This setup shifts essential functions traditionally handled at coastal seaports to an inland terminal. For shippers, this means the Hungarian facility now operates as a fully integrated node within the global Maersk logistics network.
The Fenyeslitke terminal sits at a critical intersection of major road and rail routes. It connects directly to the TEN T European transport network and rail lines tied to the Middle Corridor. This geographic advantage gives shippers seamless connections to neighboring countries and major transit routes throughout Eastern Europe.
Following operational planning that began in 2025, container traffic is already moving. The first export train arrived at the terminal in February 2026. While rail connections are currently running based on market demand, Maersk and EWG are actively working to establish regular scheduled services to support steady cargo flows between Central Europe and global trade routes.
