The Ocean Alliance is expanding its US Southeast footprint with a new direct container service connecting the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) to major Asian markets.

The weekly Chesapeake Bay Express (CBX) is jointly operated by alliance members CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping, Evergreen Marine, and OOCL. The inaugural vessel on this route is scheduled to call at JAXPORT this May.
The CBX Port Rotation
The new service offers shippers comprehensive coverage across key Asian manufacturing and export hubs. The full CBX port rotation operates as follows:
Vũng Tàu, Vietnam
Yantian and Shanghai, China
Busan, South Korea
Kobe, Japan
Transit via the Panama Canal
Norfolk, Virginia
Charleston, South Carolina
Savannah, Georgia
Jacksonville, Florida (JAXPORT)
Return to Vũng Tàu
SSA Marine will manage stevedoring operations for the CBX at the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal on Blount Island.
The terminal recently underwent significant upgrades designed precisely to accommodate the larger ships and higher cargo densities of major ocean alliance loops. The facility now boasts a 47-foot deepwater channel, modern cargo handling equipment, and substantially expanded container capacity.

The new service is a significant win for regional supply chains. According to JAXPORT CEO Eric Green, adding the Ocean Alliance strengthens Jacksonville’s position as a strategic gateway for international trade. The route provides shippers with vital routing flexibility between the Southeast US and Asia, while proving that the port’s ongoing infrastructure investments are successfully attracting efficient, reliable services from top-tier global carriers.
