Samskip has announced a strategic agreement to sell its UK and Ireland (UKI-trade) door-to-door and quay to quay cargo business to the short sea shipping and multimodal operator CLdN.

The sale encompasses the container shipping services currently operated by Samskip between Rotterdam (Rotterdam Short Sea Terminals / Matrans Rotterdam Terminal) and the following key ports:
- UK: Belfast, Blyth, Grangemouth, Hull, and Tilbury.
- Ireland: Cork, Dublin, and Waterford.
It is envisaged that all existing operations related to the UKI-trade, including operating agreements, will transfer to CLdN.
This divestment allows Samskip to sharpen its focus on its long-distance multimodal network, which connects mainland Europe to the Nordics, Baltics, and North Africa. The move aligns with the company’s sustainability strategy, aiming to further contribute to the decarbonization of customer supply chains by optimizing these longer trade lanes.
Both parties have agreed to keep the financial terms of the transaction confidential.
