DHL Supply Chain is expanding its contract logistics footprint in the Rhineland economic region. The company is currently building a new 26,600 m² carbon neutral logistics center at the Wolbersacker industrial park in Rheinbach, Germany. Operations are scheduled to begin in August 2026.

Designed to meet the rising regional demand for high-performance supply chain solutions, the new center will provide modern warehousing and transshipment space for companies operating in the area.
The Rheinbach facility is strategically positioned to accelerate domestic and European deliveries. This positioning allows the hub to integrate seamlessly into DHL’s broader logistics network, including the key inland port of Duisburg.
Built to the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), the center focuses heavily on energy efficiency and emission reduction. Key features include:
- Renewable Energy: A 1.0 MWp photovoltaic system and a 229 kW battery storage unit.
- Efficiency Systems: High-efficiency heat pumps and energy-optimized LED lighting.
- Modular Design: The 26,600 m² of warehouse space is fully adaptable, supporting conventional storage, e-commerce fulfillment, or automated logistics solutions based on specific shipper requirements.
Regional leaders emphasize the facility’s role in strengthening local logistics infrastructure. Katrin Hölter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps, stated the investment makes regional supply chains more climate friendly and flexible.
Marie Schafer, Business Unit Director West, noted the facility closes an important gap in the market by significantly reducing transport times to key European sales markets.
