Kongsberg Maritime has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT PAL Indonesia, the country’s largest state-owned shipyard, to collaborate on energy efficient and low emission maritime solutions.

This partnership is the latest step in Kongsberg Maritime’s growing focus on the Indonesian market. It builds directly on the company’s recent operational expansion in July 2025, when it opened two new offices in Jakarta and Batam.

Wenche Andersen, Managing Director of APAC Service Management at Kongsberg Maritime, noted that the MoU marks a meaningful partnership that supports Indonesia’s maritime ambitions and advances shared goals for decarbonization.

For PT PAL, the agreement provides direct access to Kongsberg’s extensive portfolio of marine technologies, which includes:

  • Automation and navigation systems
  • Propulsion and dynamic positioning
  • Energy management and vessel design

Wiyono Komodjojo, Chief Marketing Officer at PT PAL, emphasized the need for global partnerships as Indonesia modernizes its fleet. “This cooperation will support us in integrating advanced energy-efficient and low-emission technologies into newbuilds and retrofits alike,” he stated.
