Kaleris Launches AI Yard Intelligence Suite for Container Terminals

Kaleris introduced its new Yard Intelligence Suite at TOC Europe 2026 in Hamburg. It is designed to help container terminals improve yard planning, reduce congestion, and increase throughput without the need to expand physical infrastructure.

Addressing High Yard Utilization
According to Scott Holland, terminals face increasing pressure as yard utilisation rates frequently exceed 80%. Operators are also navigating labor shortages and underutilized software capabilities. This integration improves container positioning, reduces bottlenecks, and maintains cargo flow.

N4 Integration and AI Features
The platform allows terminal operators using the N4 terminal operating system to interact with yard management tools using natural language. It supports real-time decision-making, predictive planning, and automated optimization.

The suite includes three primary AI-powered tools:

  • Configuration Wizard: Helps terminals define operational strategies and priorities.

  • Monitor & Prediction Tool: Analyzes multiple operational scenarios and recommends specific actions.

  • Analysis Agent: Explains operational conditions and parameter changes using natural language.

Performance Metrics and Past Deployments Kaleris reported that early performance indicators show the Yard Intelligence Suite can yield significant efficiency gains:

  • Reduces container rehandles by 20–35%

  • Increases effective yard capacity by 15–25%

  • Reduces equipment operating hours by 10–18%

These figures build on results from Kaleris’ earlier optimization deployments.
