Circle S.p.A. (CIRCLE) has started a €1.5 million (about $1.8 million) program with a major European partner to modernize operations at key inland terminals in Southern Europe. The focus is on upgrading how terminals run day to day using software to improve speed, visibility, and coordination across intermodal logistics.

At the centre of the rollout is Circle’s MILOS platform, being introduced in phases. The implementation prioritizes the Terminal Operating System (TOS) and Gate Operating System (GOS) developed by Circle and its subsidiary eXyond, along with the SESAMO module from technology partner Aitek.

Circle says MILOS is designed to give terminals real-time, integrated control over operations. That includes better traceability of intermodal flows (knowing where cargo is and what stage it’s in), plus dynamic optimization of staff and vehicle deployment so resources are used more efficiently.

The system also supports automated gate access, reducing manual checks and bottlenecks, and brings document workflows fully online through digital document management built into a modular setup.

The company CEO, Luca Abatello, said the project reinforces Circle’s role as a technology partner for intermodal logistics transformation and aligns with the company’s Connect 4 Agile Growth industrial plan to improve competitiveness across Italian and European logistics.
