GTT Secures Tank Design Order for Two Samsung LNG Carriers

GTT has announced a new contract, secured in the first quarter of 2026, to provide the tank design for two new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs). The vessels will be constructed by the shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries.

Under the agreement, GTT is responsible for engineering the cryogenic tanks for both vessels.

  • Capacity: Each carrier will offer a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic meters.
  • Containment System: The tanks will be equipped with GTT’s proprietary Mark III Flex membrane containment system. This technology is designed to safely store and transport liquefied gas at extremely low temperatures while minimizing natural boil-off rates during transit.

Samsung Heavy Industries is scheduled to complete construction and deliver the newly equipped LNG carriers between the fourth quarter of 2028 and the first quarter of 2029.
