Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has officially announced the transfer of ownership from its founder, Captain Gianluigi Aponte, to his children, Diego Aponte and Alexa Aponte.

Executed during the last quarter of 2025, this transition marks a major milestone for the Geneva based shipping group. By handing the ownership to the next generation, MSC aims to ensure leadership continuity and secure long term stability for the global supply chain business.

Both Diego Aponte, currently serving as Group President, and Alexa Aponte, Group Chief Financial Officer, have already played substantial roles in driving the company’s strategic development and recent growth.

Following the transition, MSC confirmed that the company will maintain its strict focus on core ocean freight operations. Furthermore, Captain Gianluigi Aponte is not stepping away entirely; he will continue in his role as Executive Chairman to guide the transition.
