Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its short and medium haul A321 freighter network with new stops in Europe and Africa.

Lufthansa Cargo A321 freighter aircraft serving Rome and Algiers

First, Rome-Fiumicino joins the regular schedule on 7 February 2026. Lufthansa Cargo will run the service once a week from Frankfurt on Saturdays as LH8344. The flight continues from Rome to Istanbul and then to Munich. Lufthansa has already flown ad hoc A321 freighters to Rome since December 2025, and demand has stayed strong.

This move also gives Rome a bigger role as Lufthansa Cargo’s newest Southern Europe hub. From Rome, customers can reach 120+ destinations through freighter flights, road feeder services, and extra cargo capacity from ITA Airways.

Next, Lufthansa Cargo will push the A321 network into Africa. It adds Algiers from 10 February 2026 with a weekly Tuesday service, LH8308. That brings its direct Middle East and Africa freighter links to seven destinations, including Beirut, Casablanca, Cairo, Yerevan, Tel Aviv, and Tunis.

Overall, Lufthansa Cargo now serves 22 short- and medium-haul destinations with four A321 freighters. It supports this network with 18 Boeing 777 freighters on long-haul routes, plus belly capacity from partner airlines in the Lufthansa Group.
