With the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz disrupting Middle East supply chains, Far East cargo is increasingly being diverted to India. Taking a proactive approach, deugro Projects (India) Pvt Ltd and its local agent Mystic Shipping Pvt Ltd (MSPL) have successfully established a new transshipment route through Kandla Port (Deendayal Port Trust).

This marks the first time Kandla Port has handled break bulk and over dimensional cargo (ODC) under transshipment arrangements. By pioneering this initiative, deugro and MSPL are helping Middle East buyers avoid costly delays while reinforcing India’s capability as a trusted global trade hub during regional crises.
The inaugural operation centered on the MV BBC Hudson, which successfully discharged the diverted freight over a tight two day window:
- Arrival and Berthing: The vessel arrived on March 9, 2026, and berthed at Berth 15A late on March 12.
- Cargo Volume: Crews discharged 644.62 MT of project cargo, consisting of 55 individual packages.
- Heavy Lift Operations: The discharge included a massive 101 MT ODC package, which was safely handled through precise tandem lifting.
Executing this complex transshipment required heavy coordination with Customs and the Deendayal Port Authority. The logistics providers specifically credited Port Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh, Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta, and Traffic Manager B Ratna Sekhar Rao for their operational support.
Satish Juttika, Managing Director of MSPL, noted that the company’s ability to act as a single point of contact made the diversion possible. “From stevedoring and port handling to vessel agency, customs clearance, freight forwarding, and warehousing, MSPL delivers a complete spectrum of services designed to simplify complexity,” Juttika stated.
