CMA CGM Completes Uk’s Freightliner Acquisition

The third-largest container shipping company, CMA CGM Group, has completed the acquisition of one of the UK’s leading intermodal rail freight operators, Freightliner Ltd.

Freightliner has announced the update with a press release.

Freightliner consists of 10 terminals, approximately 1.4 million rail slots and 2,000 wagons, and claims to own one of the largest fleets of electric locomotives in the UK.

As per the agreement, Freightliner will keep on functioning as the Freightliner brand and will work as a standalone, multi-user, multi-customer intermodal service provider serving the UK intermodal logistics market.

Heavy Haul Rail, Rotterdam Rail Feeding, and Freightliner PL and DE, previously part of The Freightliner Group, will operate independently, remaining under the current shareholder ownership.
