CMA CGM Fiordland: First Large Vessel Calls at Puerto Antioquia

The CMA CGM Fiordland has successfully docked at Puerto Antioquia, marking a historic milestone as the first large container ship to call at Colombia’s newest port facility. This arrival signals the start of large scale commercial operations for the terminal.

The terminal is distinguished by its engineering design, specifically tailored to the region’s geography. It features:

  • Offshore Platform: A docking area located at sea to accommodate deep-draft vessels.
  • Onshore Yard: A land-based logistics zone for container storage and processing.
  • Connectivity: A 3.8-kilometer viaduct links the two sections, facilitating the rapid movement of cargo between the ship and the yard.

This development is a strategic win for Colombia’s agricultural sector. By accommodating larger vessels like the CMA CGM Fiordland, Puerto Antioquia significantly strengthens the export supply chain.
