AD Ports and AZCON Sign MoU to Develop Azerbaijan Logistics Corridor

AD Ports Group has officially signed a MoU with Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON Holding). The agreement establishes a framework to explore joint investments and
co-operation across ports, shipping, logistics, and digital trade infrastructure within Azerbaijan.

Developing the Middle Corridor
The partnership focuses on building integrated transport solutions that span maritime assets, multimodal connectivity, and digital trade facilitation systems. This aligns directly with AD Ports Group’s broader Central Asia strategy, which aims to strengthen connectivity along the Middle Corridor linking Asia to Europe.

Abdulaziz Zayed AlShamsi, Regional CEO of AD Ports Group, noted that Azerbaijan’s strategic position bridging East and West provides strong opportunities to enable more efficient and commercially attractive global trade routes.

Vugar Mirzazada, Deputy Executive Director of AZCON Holding, added that cooperating on port development, shipbuilding, and multimodal connectivity will contribute heavily to the long term growth and competitiveness of the national logistics ecosystem.

Growing UAE and Azerbaijan Economic Ties
This logistics agreement arrives shortly after the UAE and Azerbaijan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) entered into force on April 15, 2026. The CEPA removes or reduces tariffs across most goods and services to deepen private sector collaboration between the two nations.

Commercial ties are already expanding rapidly. Bilateral non oil trade rose 31.4 percent over the past two years, exceeding $2.2 billion in 2025. Azerbaijan’s broader macroeconomic outlook is also strengthening, with real GDP growth forecast at 2.5 percent in 2026, driven by improving domestic demand and infrastructure investment activity.
