Maersk has announced a significant revision to its Cargo Insurance and Cargo Care rates for ocean shipments loaded or discharged in ports across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Israel. According to the carrier, this rate increase reflects the heightened risks of cargo damage in these specific markets, prompting an upward adjustment across all coverage tiers.

Shippers must factor these new costs into their logistics budgets based on the following timeline:
Non FMC Trade Lanes: Effective starting April 13, 2026.
FMC Regulated Trades: Effective starting May 13, 2026. These revised rates will remain in place until further notice.

Booking Application and Surcharges Maersk clarified how these rates will be applied to different booking types. For non spot bookings, rates are determined by the price calculation date (the scheduled departure date of the first ocean leg for non FMC trades, and the last container gate in date for FMC trades). For spot bookings, the applicable rate is locked in based on the booking confirmation date.
The carrier noted that these revised rates are subject to additional local and contingency surcharges and remain completely independent of any tariffs filed under local regulatory requirements.
